Mad Men 1950's themed wedding style shoot at Noor

I was so excited when I was asked to be a part of this mid century Mad Men themed shoot by my favorite gal Sara at MacKenzie Marketing & Design. Every shoot she does is incredible and always blends the talents of the best of the best in the wedding industry. The styled shoot took place at the fabulous and prestigious noor in Pasadena. What an awesome backdrop! I hope to do more events there soon!

The color palette was turquoise, yellow, silver, white and black - blending old Hollywood with a touch of Mad Men flair. Since I LOVE watching the show, the ideas just started flowing. I was inspired by the clean simple lines of mid century furniture with the soft and flowing curves of women's dresses of that era. I designed the invitations with soft silver fonts blending clean simple text with a more relaxed "hand-written" cursive font. I had them printed on an off-white shimmer card stock and mounted them on a bright turquoise card stock. The envelopes were a rich silver shimmer lined with a gorgeous silver starburst pattern. I used the same "hand written" silver font to print the addresses on the envelopes. It's a nice way to get the look of calligraphy and a lot of my clients are choosing this style for their invitations.

The menus and place cards were designed with this same elegant style which worked wonderfully with the fabulous turquoise and yellow chevron sequined table linen by La Tavola. The table was set with gorgeous silver accents and kept this clean mid-century look throughout.

I could go on and on about the gorgeous dresses, exquisite jewelry, jaw dropping desserts dripping in crystals but instead I'm going to let these fabulous pictures from Randi Marie Photography speak for themselves. And check out the video below captured by the talented Matrimony Films.

Pastel love - Crossings at Carlsbad wedding

Working with amazing people is one of the many perks of being a designer. I met Haley and Mario and their family a few years ago at The Crossings at Carlsbad bridal event and they are some of the warmest people I have ever met. They made me feel like family right from the start so designing for this wedding was such a joy for me. Their colors were soft pink, soft yellow and sage green. We printed their invitations on wood card stock using rich browns and sage green.

The love of this special day was captured by one of my great vendor friends Heather Elise Photography  and the unbelievable florals were designed by another close vendor friend Suzan M. Florals. Enjoy all the loveliness!

Country chic inspired wedding

When the girls at Weddings Inspired from the Heart called me and asked if I would like to be a part of this shoot, I just couldn't resist! It was so fun to design paper products that were a little rustic, a little chic, a little country. Soft and feminine with a touch of whimsy and nature. Perfect!!!!

Much love to the fabulous vendors who brought it all together and especially to the talented Kelsey Lauren Photography for capturing it all!

My Big Hair on Ellen!

In December last year, Ellen asked people to send in "Bad Paid For Photos" and so I thought I would. I immediately thought of my "Glamor Shot" photo from 9th grade and sent it in. A few weeks later I got a call asking me if I would like to be on the show for their "Hot Glam Girls Live" segment. Um....yes! How could I say no?

It was such an awesome experience! Everyone on the show was so nice and made us feel at home. Who knew that my big hair would take me to the Ellen show?

Willy Wonka inspired shoot

This was probably the most fun I've ever had on a photo shoot! Designing paper products around Willy Wonka really took me back to being a kid. We designed a top hat invitation inspired from Willy Wonka himself and wrapped it with a purple satin ribbon. The menus were shades of purple and gold and went beautifully with the gorgeous tablescape. We wanted to incorporate the idea of bubbles from the movie and used lavender bath salts in a glass jar and wrapped it up with a gorgeous chocolate ribbon and attached a quote from the movie "Bubbles Bubbles Everywhere". Even the bottle of champagne had its own "Fizzy Lifting Drink" label. And since candy is what Willy Wonka is all about, we designed signs for the candy bar as well as a custom Willy Wonka chocolate bar wrapper complete with top hat and gold lining. My little redhead daughter Julia got to take part of the shoot and stood in as the flower girl. She had a blast!

Not only did we have fun on the shoot, but we got to work with some AMAZING vendors who really brought their creative side.
